Where Is Hatcho-no-Yu?

Located in the Oku-Kinu region of Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, Hatcho-no-Yu is a hidden gem surrounded by forests and waterfalls.

Despite its remote location, the inn is surprisingly accessible:

🚆 How to Get There

  1. Take a train to Kinugawa Onsen Station
    • From Shinjuku: JR Limited Express (~2 hrs)
    • From Asakusa: Tobu Spacia (~2 hrs)
  2. Ride the Nikko City bus (~100 min) to Meotobuchi Parking Lot
  3. From there, hop on the free shuttle bus (reservation required) to the inn (10 min ride)

I stayed there in mid-September, but if it had been October, the autumn foliage would have been absolutely stunning.

The entrance is surrounded by lush greenery, creating a peaceful, open atmosphere.

You might even be greeted by the inn’s shy dog, Moko, hiding under the porch.

Inside, the lodge is clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed.
The terrace and lounge areas are spacious and perfect for relaxing after a long journey.
